Sound Agreement has the honor of carrying on a tradition in the name alone. Originally registered in the
Land O’ Lakes district in the late ‘70s, the name is older than two of the newest members!
Corbin Beu (lead) is the son of the original bass Bob Beu, who sang with Sound Agreement from the
late ‘70s to 2002. He has been around barbershop since he was three years old. Corbin joined his first
chorus in Wisconsin, the Badger Chordhawks (International Champs 1955). He joined the Cactus Chordsmen
about five years ago when his Dad moved to Phoenix to get away from the snow. Corbin most recently sang
with his Dad in a quartet called Cool Breeze and did many of the Chordsmen’s shows. He now sings with
Spirit of Phoenix. He also has the abilty to say he has competed internationally in four different things,
1998 Olympics Nagano-Sled hockey, 1995 Wheelchair basketball and track and field in Gateshead England,
and most recently he did a headstand in his wheelchair at the International Chorus Competition in Denver.
Corbin is a fabricator specializing in making sports equipment for disabled athletes, he also makes high
end gates and fences.
Mark Spriggs (tenor) has some quarteting background also. Mark started out singing in Iowa
with the Harmony Hawks Barbershop Chorus in Cedar Rapids. He sang with Trademark from 2001-2005
winning the district novice category in 2001. In thier first appearance on the contest stage,
Trademark was able to pull off a 10th place finish. In their last contest with Trademark in 2004,
the quartet came out in 3rd place, only 2 places away from the 1st place quartet
(some guys named Vocal Spectrum). Mark moved to Phoenix in 2005 and joined the Spirit of Phoenix chorus
in 2006. He was a member of Xtreme for the year and competed at the District that year. Mark
is a computer programmer working as a consultant at SRP. He moved to Phoenix with his wife Jannett, and
2 children.
Mike Pippenger (baritone) comes to us from St. Louis where he sang with Ambasadors of Harmony
under Jim Henry (wow what n honor!). Mike Pippenger, baritone for Sound Agreement, hails from St. Louis, MO,
his home for the first 25 years of his life. The first son of two very musical parents
(his dad is an operatic tenor and his mom teaches piano), Mike was brought up in a richly musical
home and received classical training. Mike's first introduction to barbershop came from his high
school friend, Jonny Moroni, singing Expanded Sound's The Restroom Door Said Gentlemen....
Throughout high school and college, Mike's focus remained on classic choral singing.
Mike began persuing barbershop after graduating from Truman State University and realizing that music
was now missing from his life. With the Ambassadors of Harmony, Mike began to relish the challenge of
delivering the message to an audience and overcoming every obstacle to that end.
After his move to Phoenix, AZ, the Spirit of Phoenix chorus embraced Mike, and they have
become an important part of his community. Mike enjoys performing, writing pick up lines,
and telling yo mama jokes.
Rodney Armstrong rounds the quartet out singing the low notes. Though he is new to barbershop
(recently joined the society in Feb 2007), he comes from a strong a cappella background.
Hailing from Topeka, KS, Rodney sang bass with Cadence, a male a cappella group on the campus
of Kansas State University, and also sang with a doo-wop quartet called Streetside, based in Kansas City.
After graduating from KSU, Rodney moved to Phoenix where he works as a sales consultant working with small
businesses.
